New Director of IHAR-PIB

On August 1, 2017, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Krzysztof Jurgiel, appointed Prof. Stanisław Karpiński as Director of the Institute of Plant Breeding and Acclimatization - State Research Institute in Radzików.

In the years 1999-2008 Prof. Stanislaw Karpiński was a lecturer and professor at the University of Stockholm. In 1999, together with colleagues, described in the “Science” systemic signaling and acclimation in response to excess excitation energy. In 2010, his team of physiomics and biotechnological plant modeling at SGGW in Warsaw presented in the "The Plant Cell" analogous to the nervous system animal the system mechanism of transmission of light stimuli and the physiological memory of plants. In 2009 he returned to Poland. He was laureate of the first "Welcome" of the Foundation for Polish Science, receiving an individual research grant and lectured at the Department of Genetics, Breeding and Plant Biotechnology of the SGGW in Warsaw. In 2012 he served as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and supervised the National Science Center and the National Center for Research and Development.

Professor Stanisław Karpiński is the author and co-author of over 75 peer-reviewed and highly cited scientific articles and 4 international patents. He currently manages 3 NCN grants and 2 NCBiR-funded scientific and industrial consortia involving more than 45 researchers and PhD students. He has promoted in Sweden and Poland 10 PhD, 17 MSc and 7 Eng.
