  1. Research on potato productivity and quality in various production systems: organic, integrated and intensive:
    • Improving cultivation technologies.
    • Development of several methods of plant care in plantations, using mechanical treatments and herbicides.
    • Study of the weed species composition.
    • Research on alternative sources of fertilizers to supply organic matter to soil.
    • The use of innovative forms, types and methods of mineral fertilization as a source of nutrients and bioactive substances for potato plants.
    • Irrigation technology and techniques (soil moisture assessment methods, irrigation systems: drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, use of hydrogels).
    • Improvement of agrotechnical methods of prevention and optimization of chemical protection of potato plantations against diseases and pests.
    • Application of biological control of potato pests focussing on natural enemies and antagonistic fungi of the genus Trichoderma.
    • The use of beneficial organisms in organic potato cultivation.
    • Evaluation of crop quality (commercial quality, chemical composition, nutritional value, culinary evaluation).
    • Evaluation of crop storage (natural losses, sprouting and diseases).
  2. Research on the structural and functional mechanisms responsible for the ability of potato plants to tolerate stresses of soil drought and high temperature:
    • Searching for indicators of plant tolerance to abiotic stresses: morphological, physiological, biochemical.
    • Assessment of variety tolerance to abiotic stresses.
    • Assessment of size and effectiveness of the root system of potato plants (range, length, diameter, area, proteome analysis, antioxidant enzymes).
  3. Potato variety assessment:
    • Research on the agronomic and functional characteristics of new varieties.
    • Development of cultivation technology for selected potato varieties.
